La Naissance de Vénus

Spring – Summer 2019 Collection

Inspired by Sandro Botticelli’s famous work, The Birth of Venus, the Georges Makaroun Spring-Summer 2019 Couture collection takes on the pastel tones and the finesse of the painting.

Voluptuous and sensual, Georges Makaroun’s Venus is a vision of grandeur. Idolized, desired—all eyes are on her. Both fascinating and innocent, this season the Italian beauty will be adorned with silk and drapes of beads and crystals that highlight her shape and reveal her femininity in all its audacity.

For this collection, Georges Makaroun created twenty silhouettes designed directly on the body. This season, two major shapes are showcased: the gown and the cocktail dress. From pastel blue to powder pink, and pearly white to amber-black, each dress is meticulously hand-embroidered with Swarovski beads and crystals. This precision requires more than one hundred hours of work for each of the dresses made in the ateliers of Beirut. In the tradition of Georges Makaroun’s designs, each dress is made upon a couture bodice, thus enhancing the silhouette.

In addition, new designs—such as a silk kimono embroidered with beads and feathers—further enrich the collection. Whilst the majority of the dresses are rich with embroidery, others have a more pared-back style, in new shapes emphasised by the movement of the fabrics.
